If you’re looking to buy an all purpose mini-camcorder, you can’t go past the awesome little Flip Ultra HD!
The Flip Ultra HD is just like the Flip Ultra, except this camera is HD. I’m sure that is not a big surprise. There are a few minor adjustments to this model that you should be aware of. The Flip Ultra HD is not the first High Definition camera made by Flip – The Flip Mino was actually the first. The Flip Ultra was one of the best selling mini-camcorders last year and the HD version looks set to be a big hit for Christmas 2009.
The Flip Ultra has been brought back to life with this new HD version—720P shot in H.264 at 30FPS. To the observer, they look identical. I mean that literally – if you take an Ultra and and UltraHD side by side, the only way to tell which is which would be the Mini HDMI port on the side of the Ultra HD. It has the same 2X digital zoom and the same thick body. It is a miraculous combination of the Mino HD inside and the Ultra’s body on the outside. However the Flip Ultra HD is brighter and has a clearer screen.
One proble we had is that the Flip Ultra HD is bulky and you cannot slide it into your pocket like some of the other cameras on the market. My husband was not happy about this. However, it fit nicely into my handbag! It’s easy to use, study, and feels comfortable in your hand. The controls are clearly labeled and make recording a breeze!
If you’re in the market to buy a camera soon, the Flip Ultra HD is simple and easy to use. Prices have fallen dramatically in the past year and better technology is now available at a much lower price. People looking to shoot home and travel videos are able to do so easily with a great little camera like this one.
At $200 retail, the Flip Ultra HD is not the cheapest camera available, but the quality and extra storage capacity combine to make it well worth this price. It is a little bulkier than some of the others, but overall it is well worth the price. The Flip Ultra HD would be an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys shooting video without too much fuss.
