I dont mean to scare you, but Christmas is Getting Closer

I know we do not like to mention that dreaded word, but Christmas is creeping up on us fast. Before you know where you are, there will be just a couple of weeks left until Christmas and the panic would have set in. Slowly people will start to break out in a cold sweat and worry about what they should be buying for everybody.

Last year I had plenty of time for Christmas shopping and it was brilliant. I did not have that last minute rush to the shopping centre and I could take a leisurely walk around the town with no hassle and no crowds. This year I am working full time, so I need to be totally organised.

I find that the very worst bit about Christmas is pinning down the family and discovering what they actually want for Christmas. I really do not mind spending money if I know what to buy, it does annoy me though when you trudge round the shops, wondering what they would like and coming home with nothing.

This year I would like to try and do my bit for the environment and have decided to take a look at eco friendly gift ideas. It is always good when you feel you are helping others, and what better time to do this than at Christmas?

The sheer volume of choice out there for gifts is unbelivable, but while trawling through I think I’ve also managed to find the perfect ethical tableware so at least I know that the table will look stunning this Christmas.

As per usual my husband never knows what to buy me, so I have dropped a few hints about recycled vases. That way, there are no excuses why he cannot buy me flowers throughout the coming year. Well you have to give them a little nudge in the right direction sometimes.

Oh well I digress, I must get back to my shopping lists and see what Great Aunt Gladys wants this year it will probably be the same as every other year pink fluffy slippers!

You will then have a plan of action and can decide what shops to go to and which to miss. You will also find it easier to stick within your Christmas budget. If there are people who you could buy the same thing for, buy in bulk, you might find offers on chocolates or decorations.

Shop From Home

You could join a large group of people who have started doing their Christmas shopping on the internet. Make sure you buy early as some online retailers will increase the prices for delivery the closer it gets to Christmas. Buying presents like home furnishings such as a king size duvet cover is cheaper over the internet and you will have more choice. You do not need to worry about putting your face on when you do your shopping online either, you could be in your dressing gown and no one would know. You can even have gifts shipped directly to the recipient for added convenience.

Don’t Limit Yourself To The Mall

You can buy other great presents such as concert tickets without having to go into busy shops. You can also purchase gift certificates for movie theatres, bowling centres or favourite restaurants. Offer your services if you know that this would be appreciated, you can babysit or look after someone’s pet whilst they go on a rare night out.
