When selecting your plus-sized swimwear there are several tricks that can disguise problem areas whilst at the same time enhancing your best features.As an example, draped fabric can conceal bulges and swimsuits with cris-cross design elements can give your waist the appearance of being smaller as well as providing additional body contours.Larger frames can be made to appear slimmer by choosing swimwear that has a deep v-neck.For the type of lady with a smaller bust and larger hips, this can be balanced with a swimsuit that features a colourful printed top as well as choosing a darker coloured skirt or beach short for the bottom.

The best time to go out and shop for your swim suit will always be at the beginning of the season.  By shopping around May or June, styles will be new and shops will have their shelves well stocked.When shopping round for a new swimsuit you should avoid trying on a new bathing suit after you have just eaten a meal or during your menstrual cyclen.Correct colour is also a hugely important consideration as black, dark brown and blue are slimming to the eye.  Don’t be taken in with the old myth of the larger woman not being able to wear stripes – women of all sizes can carry of stripes, patterns or bold colours as long as the fit of the swimsuit is flattering to their particular body type.

So the ideal plus-sized swimsuit would flatter the wearer whilst at the same time hiding problem areas and supporting the bosom.There's no reason why all the thin women should get the nicest clothes!

Hand washing can be one solution to the problem.You should do this by filling a small basin, a bathtub or your sink with cold water until it is half full.  Add a very mild detergent – you should be able to find one that is manufactured specifically for lingerie or delicate items.  You should then leave the lingerie to soak in the water.Don’t leave them there for too long as just 10-60 minutes will be fine.

Once they are soaked, lightly move your garments around under the water and then gently rub any affected areas with a small bar of soap if required.Once you have done this, rinse the lingerie and very gently squeeze the bulk of the water out however ensure that you do not wring them out!

An alternative to hand washing them is of course, machine washing.  Washing machines should have a ‘hand wash’ cycle for lingerie.If it does not have an option for a hand wash cycle, or if you are at all unsure, then a delicate cycle for items that are not too delicate.If you don’t want to take the chance then just stick to hand washing.Items with straps, sequins, hooks or lace should be placed into a special mesh bag.  It only takes one wash without a mesh bag for a delicate item to be destroyed!

Whichever way you choose to clean your lingerie, in most cases it should be line dried.  Some labels will suggest they can go in the dryer however a dryer can be very hard on them over time.When line drying, ensure to put items market ‘lay flat’ onto a mesh drying rack.  If however, you do choose to put heavier items into a dryer – remember to keep them in that mesh bag!
